Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 10, 2026  ·  Scribbard LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.

Overview

Scribbard LLC ("Scribbard", "we", "us", "our") operates the Scribbard platform at scribbard.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the service. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your story content to train AI models.

What We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password (if you use email/password sign-in). If you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your name, email, and profile image from Google.

Content you create. We store your projects, including idea board cards, story concepts, character profiles, world-building details, outlines, style guides, and all generated and edited scene text. This content belongs to you.

Usage data. We collect information about how you use the service: which features you use, how often you generate scenes, error logs, and session activity. This is used to improve the product and diagnose problems.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full card details. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status so we can manage your account.

Communications. If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence.

How We Use It

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Scribbard service
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing
  • Authenticate your account and maintain session security
  • Generate AI content using your project data as context (see AI Providers below)
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, subscription receipts)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Use
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:

Service providers. We share data with third-party vendors who help us operate the service:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
  • AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) — see AI Providers section below
  • Infrastructure providers — cloud hosting and database services

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Scribbard, our users, or the public.

Business transfers. If Scribbard is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before any such transfer and before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

AI Providers and Your Content

To generate prose, Scribbard sends portions of your project data to AI providers — currently Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google (depending on your plan and configuration). This includes your story concept, character profiles, world-building details, outline scene cards, style guide, and prior scene text.

We do not use your content to train AI models. Our agreements with AI providers prohibit them from using API input to train their models. Your story is not used to improve any AI system.

Content sent to AI providers is subject to their privacy policies and terms of service in addition to ours. We recommend reviewing Anthropic's, OpenAI's, and Google's API usage policies if you have concerns about how they handle data.

Data Retention

We retain your account and project data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and project content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (for example, billing records, which are retained for 7 years as required by applicable law).

Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access. Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction. Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion. Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Portability. Request a machine-readable export of your data.
  • Objection. Object to certain types of processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@scribbard.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls that limit who can access production data. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure — we never handle raw card data.

No system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Cookies and Tracking

Scribbard uses session cookies to keep you logged in and to maintain application state. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, behavioural tracking cookies, or fingerprinting.

We may use anonymous analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g. which features are most used, where users drop off). This data is not linked to your identity.

Children

Scribbard is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice on the website at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent revision.
